The deepest fish in the world: the leader of the expedition explains how the video was filmed

A fish was filmed 8,336m (27,349ft) under the floor of the ocean, the deepest a fish had ever seen swimming.

The species – a kind of snail within the genus Pseudoliparis – was filmed by an autonomous “lander” dropped into the Izu-Ogasawara pit in southern Japan.

“If somebody finds a deeper fish, it will not be a lot,” mentioned the expedition’s chief scientist, Alan Jamieson.

The analysis expedition was a part of a 10-year research of the world’s deepest fish. The opposite photographs on this clip have been shot at a barely decrease depth.
